The resignation of Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, as a member of parliament, in the face of criminal charges for mercenary recruitment, and in the middle of her treason trial, is a first step toward full criminal accountability.

The DA insists that all criminal accountability which she faces continues on its course.

Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has long operated under the notional protection of her father, former President Jacob Zuma, acting with impunity as a senior MK Party politician. But that cannot go on.

The MK Party is a threat to the rule of law, and Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has embodied that.

South Africa deserves a prosperous future of economic growth and jobs that can only be brought about by parties that commit to growing our country together, not those that choose violence and law-breaking.

Keeping the MK Party and EFF out of government is an essential reason why the DA is part of the Government of National Unity.

The rule of law keeps every South African safe from anarchy and violence, and those who break the law must face the consequences.
