The Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation, has noted the resignation of Ms Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla as a Member of Parliament.

The Chairperson of the committee, Mr Supra Mahumapelo, said the committee accepts the news of Ms Zuma-Sambudla’s resignation as a Member of Parliament and a member of the committee with despair. He said Ms Zuma-Sambudla made an indelible mark which will remain as her legacy in the committee. “She leaves a vacuum which will take time to fill,” said Mr Mahumapelo.

The committee heard a report from the media about the resignation of Ms Zuma-Sambudla from a media briefing conducted by her uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party and which took place today in Durban. According to the media reports, Ms Zuma-Sambudla is under investigation. “We wish the investigation to be accelerated in order to be concluded on time,” said Mr Mahumapelo.
