Premier David Makhura will on Friday, 27 May 2016, officially welcome Arnold Schwarzenegger ahead of the Arnold Sports Festival to be held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg this weekend. The Arnold Sports Festival is a partnership between Gauteng government and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Arnold Sports Festival is an annual multisport event named after the legendary professional actor, bodybuilder and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger. The event follows in the footsteps of the original Arnold Classic, which was co-founded by Schwarzenegger and Jim Lorimer of Worthington in 1989. The multi-sport event will be held in six continents in 2016.

The Arnold Sports Festival is expected to bring to Johannesburg about 30 000 participants across a wide range of sporting codes which include fencing, bodybuilding, aerobic gymnastics and volleyball. The Sports Festival is expected to strengthen the Home of Champions brand and provide Gauteng with an opportunity to showcase all its charms as the sporting destination of choice in South Africa.
