The Executive Director of the Transport Department cordially invites members of the media to the Soweto Cycle Ride on Sunday, 27 March 2022.
The Soweto Cycle Ride is a social event connecting communities, promoting bicycles as a form of transport, encouraging the use of cycle lanes and empowering local economic development.
The aim of the social ride is to increase awareness that streets are for all road users and not only for motorists; promote access to bicycles in Soweto and create a safer, bicycle-friendly city.
The social ride also provides the department with the opportunity to encourage community members to embrace and take up cycling as a sport and promote a healthy living through cycling.
Members of the media invited to the Soweto Cycle Ride, which will be held as follows:
