The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has learnt with deep sadness of the untimely passing of Ms. Tshidi Madia, a highly respected journalist and editor, whose passing was announced today.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ms. Madia’s family, friends, colleagues, and the broader media fraternity.

Tshidi distinguished herself as a fearless, principled, and ethical voice in South African journalism. Her dedication to truth, integrity, and the pursuit of accountability was unwavering. She was not only a trailblazer in the newsroom, but also a mentor and inspiration to many young women aspiring to enter the journalism profession.

It is truly sad that her life and contribution have been cut short so soon, and all the more heartbreaking that her passing comes during Women’s Month, a time when we celebrate the achievements, strength, and voices of women like her.

South Africa has lost one of its brightest journalistic minds, and her absence will be deeply felt in our public discourse.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her family and loved ones find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind.

Issued by IFP National Spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa MP
