The South African Communist Party (SACP) strongly condemns the recent bombardment of Gaza by the apartheid Israeli regime, marking a continuation of the regime’s genocidal campaign against the people of Palestine. Apartheid Israel’s bombardment of Gaza since Tuesday 18 March 2025 has led to the death of over 400 people, the majority of whom are women and children, wounding hundreds more.

Thus far, the apartheid Israeli regime has murdered more than 61,700 people in Gaza since it began its genocide on 7 October 2023. Tens of thousands more Palestinians remain missing under the rubble and presumed dead. Many more have been heavily injured.

The SACP reiterates its call for intensified unity among justice-loving people across the world, including co-operation of the people, governments and international bodies to isolate the apartheid Israeli settler regime economically, politically, culturally and otherwise. In particular, the world working-class movement should develop a leading role in this struggle for a just world order.

United States imperialist military aggression equally condemned

The SACP also condemns the imperialist regime of the United States for its military aggression in Yemen, which has led to the death of over 53 people, wounding hundreds more. The continuous military bombardment of Yemen by the imperialist forces has everything to do with the control and exploitation of Yemeni resources, including the subjugation of its people. The violation of the Yemeni people’s right to self-determination sits at the core of the US imperialist aggression in Yemen as well as everywhere else as it seeks to control the entire region.

In solidarity with the people of Yemen, the SACP calls for unity of the working-class and all justice and peace loving people across the world to defend the right to national sovereignty. The people of Yemen have the right to determine their destiny, free from foreign aggression and control.

The SACP reiterates its support for the entire axis of resistance in the Middle East, including Iran, against aggression by imperialist forces and apartheid Israeli regime.
