The Gauteng Provincial Government will be enforcing a tight traffic management plan during the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to ease road congestion around the National Stadium (Soccer City). The plan will be rolled out during opening and closing games on the 19th of this month and the 10th February 2013 respectively.
 
 
Road closures
 
There will massive road closures on all roads leading to the stadium. These include the Soweto highway, Main Reef Road, Randshow road, Nasrec road, N1s, N1n , N17 and Booysens reserve. Only vehicles displaying the Vehicle Pass badge will be allowed access to the venue. Residents of Ormonde and Rivelea are urged to collect their Vehicle Passes at Ormonde and Langlaagte police stations. They will be required to produce a proof of address, ID and vehicle registration number. For more enquiries, residents can call (011) 433 5200.
 

Park and Rides
 
Soccer fans are encouraged to make use of several public transport facilities that have been identified for Park and Ride. The vehicles will operate between the Constitution Hill (in Braamfontein), Thokoza Park (Soweto) and Westgate (Johannesburg) and the National Stadium). Metrorail trains will also operate between the Park Station and the stadium. Fans disembarking from the Gautrain will have to use the Rea Vaya busses.
 
Park and Walk
 
There is also an option of Park and Walk near the stadium. The designated areas are Shareworld, Cemetery and Aeraton. Motorists can access the Shareworld parking from the N17 off ramp. Cemetery can be accessed via the Randshow off-ramp and Aeraton parking is on the Nasrec off-ramp.
 
 
 
Public Viewing Areas
 
Soccer fans who will not be going to the stadium can catch all the AFCON action from the Public Viewing Areas that will be operating during the tournament. The Mid Corner Shisanyama in Sebokeng will screen the opening match this Saturday. On the 27th of January, the Merafong Public Viewing Area will be activated and the final game, on the 10th of February, will be screened at the Church Square in Tshwane. There will also be match screenings on Township TVs in Orange Farm, Diepsloot, Ivory Park and Diepkloof.
 
Kick off times
 
Gates will open at 12:00 and fans of the beautiful game are advised to arrive at the stadium two hours before the games.
