The Portfolio Committee on Health sympathises with the people who were affected by the collapse of a roof at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The Committee commends the swift response by the Gauteng Provincial Government led by the Premier, MEC for Health, MEC for Infrastructure Development; and also the National Department of Health led by the Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi.

Committee Chairperson Ms Lindelwa Dunjwa said: “Those that have been found to be responsible for the unfortunate situation should be brought to book.”

The Committee commends and thanks all healthcare workers who were involved in assisting the injured. The Committee wishes a speedy recovery to the people who have been affected.
