The Portfolio Committee on Communications welcomes the appointment of the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC’s) new Board members. The Committee Chairperson, Mr Humphrey Maxegwana, congratulated the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and all the members of the board on their appointment and wished them all the best.

“We are looking forward to working together with them in taking the SABC to new heights,” he said.

Mr Maxegwana said the Committee hopes to work together with the new Board in finding lasting solutions to all the challenges facing the SABC, including the matters raised by the Broadcasting, Electronic, Media and Allied Workers Union (BEMAWU), the SABC 8 journalists and other critical role players of the SABC.

The Committee also welcomes the appointment of the new Minister of the Department of Communications, Ms Mmamaloko Kubayi. Mr Maxegwana congratulated Ms Kubayi on her appointment as the new Minister and wished her well in her new post. “We are looking forward to working together with her in taking the department to the next level,” said Mr Maxegwana.
