African National Congress (ANC) deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa will hit the election campaign trail again on Monday, this time for by-elections to be held in George, the party said.

Ramaphosa plans to start early with a walkabout and a meeting in Uniondale, then a spot of canvassing in Ward 11, Thembalethu, said Western Cape head of organising Richard Dyantyi.

He will round off with a mini-rally in Ngcakani Street between 16:00 and 17:00.

A seat in Ward 11 became vacant after the death of DA councillor Luxamile Xesi in a house fire last September.

The by-election will be held on Wednesday, February 1.

According to the Electoral Commission, the 4 227 registered voters can vote at Christ the Redeemer Church in Thembalethu, Gateway Lodge, the Lutheran Church in Rondevlei and at the Pine Lodge Resort.

A by-election in Ward 25 would also be held after the death of ANC councillor Marlin Du Preez. He was found dead at home.

The 3 859 registered voters in Ward 25 can vote at the Lyonville community hall, the Ezeljacht Primary School, Diepkloof Voorskool, Hartbeesriver Primary School and Bassou farms.
