Kindly note that the signing of security agreement between the CSIR and Eskom has been postponed until further notice. This is due to circumstances beyond our control as our colleagues from Eskom have been asked to attend an urgent meeting tomorrow and they have requested that we move this event to a later date.

We really apologise for the inconvenience and we will contact you once a new date has been announced.

Following the recently signed strategic partnership agreement between Eskom and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the two organisations have now established a Security Sub-committee that will identify and deal with security risks that are having a significant financial impact on Eskom’s business.

One of Eskom’s imperatives is to regain financial strength by addressing security concerns and revenue losses. The Security Sub-committee will look at security risk management solutions to prevent criminal activity and safeguard high value assets, e.g. conductor cables and related infrastructure, theft/ vandalism detection and prevention, smart meter protection and the detection and prevention of illegal connections and revenue theft.

Eskom has identified specific security risks that are having a significant impact on their business, security of supply and destruction of infrastructure. The CSIR and Eskom  Security Sub-committee will  identify and integrate the solutions to these issues into a collaborative programme that will ensure optimal utilisation of all the capabilities within not only the CSIR but across the National System of Innovation (NSI).

Media is invited to the signing of this security agreement and the details are as follow:

Date: Friday, 15 July 2016
Venue: CSIR International Convention Centre – Emerald Room, 627 Meiring Naude Road, Lynnwood, Pretoria East.
Time: 13:30 for 14:00
RSVP: To confirm your attendance and to arrange for interviews please contact Tendani Tsedu on 012 841 3417/ 082 945 1980 or mtsedu@csir.co.za
