The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) has learned with profound sadness of the untimely passing of veteran political journalist, Tshidi Madia.
Tshidi Madia was more than a journalist; she was a fearless storyteller, a relentless seeker of truth, and a voice that brought clarity to the complex dynamics of our country’s political landscape. Her work reflected a deep commitment to upholding democracy, transparency, and accountability—values that resonate with our own mission as a progressive trade union movement.
Through her insightful reporting, she not only informed the public but also challenged those in positions of power to act with integrity. Her contribution to South African journalism will be sorely missed, and her passing is a loss not only to the media fraternity but to our broader democratic discourse.
POPCRU extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind—one of courage, professionalism, and an unwavering dedication to telling the South African story with honesty and depth.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
