Norton Rose Fulbright bolsters South Africa practice with promotions and new hires

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright is delighted to announce new hires, changes to management, and the promotion of eight lawyers to senior associate.

Haroon Laher, Michelle White and Ahmed Mokdad join the dispute resolution and litigation team in Johannesburg.

Haroon Laher joins the firm as a director and he brings considerable experience in large restructuring, complex negotiations, insolvency litigation and business rescue.  Haroon advises a range of major banks, other financial institutions, business rescue practitioners, liquidators and secured and unsecured creditors.

Michelle White joins the firm as a senior associate and focuses on aviation litigation, insurance and regulation

Ahmed Mokdad joins the firm as an associate and practices in all areas of corporate and commercial litigation with experience in banking and finance law, tax law, corporate and commercial law, contractual disputes, white collar crime, and investigations.

Alessia Maxwell joins as a senior associate in the corporate, M&A and securities team based in Johannesburg.  She focusses on commercial drafting, due diligence, mergers and acquisitions and private equity.

Management team changes

Norton Rose Fulbright is pleased to also announce various changes to management.

Andrew Robinson, who was previously head of the transport team, will be the new head of the dispute resolution and litigation team in South Africa.  His practice covers construction, insurance, commercial and transport litigation, as well as employment and labour matters.

Malcolm Hartwell, shipping lawyer based in Durban, has been announced as the new team leader for the transport team, which covers aviation litigation and finance, all aspects of rail, shipping, admiralty ports and logistics.

Marianne Wagener, head of the life sciences and healthcare practice, will now also lead the antitrust and competition team.  She is experienced in competition and trade law as well as regulatory and investigations matters.
