The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] wishes the World Federation of Trade Union Trade Union International Public Service and Allied [WFTU-TUI-PS&A] a successful 14th International Congress which is scheduled to take place from the 21st - 23rd November in Bogota, Colombia.

The congress is convened under the theme “Defend Collective Bargaining and fight Privatisation to reinforce International Solidarity against Capitalism and Imperialism.

Indeed, the congress takes place during a period where workers are faced with a new escalation of miseries, pains and suffocations that threatens their historic gains and meagre livelihoods; and by implication, the working class in its entirety as a result of the implementation of neoliberal policies of austerity by various governments across the world, the undermining of collective bargaining, eroding workers’ rights, and privatising the public service.

As NEHAWU, we look forward to fruitful and robust discussions that will pave way for the adoption of progressive resolutions to continue the class militant line in the struggles and campaigns against privatisation, defence of collective bargaining and the rights of workers, and the fight against austerity measures.

Lastly, we wish the WFTU TUI-PS&A a resoundingly successful 14th International Congress.
