Today, Democratic Alliance Leader, Mmusi Maimane MP, will lay criminal charges against Chancellor House in terms of the Prevention of Corrupt Activities Act (POCA) for their unlawful activity in the awarding of contracts to Hitachi Ltd to provide boilers for the Medupi and Kusile power stations.

The Leader will be joined by Shadow Minister for Public Enterprises, Natasha Mazzone MP.

It is disgraceful that the ANC has profited from the construction of Medupi and Kusile which are both over-budget and behind schedule. The delay in bringing the power stations online has prolonged load shedding, resulted in countless job losses and cost the economy billions in lost revenue.

The scandal underscores the moral bankruptcy of the ANC which continues to benefit from corruption at the expense of basic service delivery and the best interest of South Africa.

Maimane will therefore also be announcing further steps to be taken by the DA to ensure that those responsible are held to account.

The charges will be laid as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 30 September 2015
Time: 11:30
Venue: Cape Town Police Station
Address: Buitenkant Street, Cape Town

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
