Since the G20 Summit, the Mayor and his MMCs have abandoned their responsibilities, prioritising the ANC Joburg Regional Congress over the lives of the people they are meant to serve. Power outages persist, water leaks run for days, and residents are left to fend for themselves.

City Power has offered nothing but generic excuses, while ward councillors face threats from the construction mafia because the ANC has failed to uphold basic law and order.

This is not just negligence, but a deliberate failure to govern. The ANC is too busy trying to save a dying political machine to care about the people of Johannesburg.

The DA has written to the COO of City Power and the Speaker of Council demanding immediate action. If these crises are not addressed urgently, we will take the matter further using all available options within the confines of the Constitution.

Johannesburg residents deserve service, safety, and accountability, not political theatre. The DA will continue to fight for the people. The ANC might not care about Johannesburg and her people, but we do.
