The Inkatha Freedom Party is celebrating after winning a fiercely contested by-election at uMlalazi.

“These results reaffirm the confidence and faith that people of KZN have in the IFP and its leadership. We extend our gratitude to all those who came out in their numbers to vote for the IFP as this demonstrates a continuous show of rising confidence in the party.

These results mark another big defeat for the ANC‚ which recently lost control of the hotly contested Nquthu municipality to the IFP,” said IFP National Chairperson, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.

“We would like to extend our sympathy to our colleagues in the ANC after losing this crucial by election especially the ANC Provincial Secretary, Super Zuma who had earlier boasted that they will retain this ward but had to eat those words.

These results are a clear sign that the IFP continues to grow ahead of the 2019 elections,” continued Mr Gwala.

“We thank our volunteers, members, leaders in uMlalazi in particular Mr Stan Larkan who was the campaign leader and supporters who continued to work tirelessly and ensured this decisive victory for the IFP. We call on them to continue to mobilise support for the IFP so that we can bring effective service delivery and clean governance to all municipalities,” concluded Mr Gwala.
