“Geomechanics began operating in South Africa over 30 years ago and in that time, has weathered many storms. The 25 years of democracy have brought many changes to the way in which business is conducted.

This coupled with gobal economic downturns have required traditional South African companies to diversify and extend their reach beyond the borders of South Africa to thrive.

Some things however have remained constant irrespective of the political atmosphere in the country and those are that providing good quality products and services and respecting your workforce and the environments in which you work, are rewarded with success and hence business longevity.

I started this business 30 years ago with two people and one geotechnical drilling rig, we now manage a group of companies employing over 100 times that many people with over 50 rigs and branches in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, the Eastern and Western Cape. Branches in Uganda and the UAE are work in progress.

My hope is that the Government will provide all businesses with incentives to grow within South Africa, to generate employment and hence disposable income to uplift the economy for everyone’s benefit.”

Non-executive Chairman and Founder- Dave Rossiter.
