The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has responded to Wednesday night’s press briefing by President Cyril Ramaphosa and US President Donald Trump, in the Oval Office, during which Trump played numerous video clips of EFF leader Julius Malema singing the "Kill The Boer, Kill The Farmer" chant, as the US President falsely claimed that white farmers were being persecuted.

Ramaphosa made a working trip to the US with the aim of discussing diplomatic, trade and economic relations, however, what began as an upbeat conversation, quickly turned when Trump proceeded to play the numerous clips of Malema talking about the unequal distribution of land in South Africa and in which he sang the chant "Kill The Boer, Kill The Farmer".

The EFF hit back after the briefing, saying it was proud that its legislative and political agenda, led by Malema, has “shaken the corridors of imperialism in Washington”.

The party explained that "Kill The Boer, Kill The Farmer" is a song that expresses the desire to destroy the system of white minority control over the resources of South Africa.

“…this liberation chant was considered as part of African heritage by the Equality Court, which also said the song could not be interpreted literally. The Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court of South Africa then ratified this decision,” the EFF said.

The party went further to accuse Ramaphosa of “blatantly denouncing” the rulings of South Africa’s courts.

The EFF expressed concern at Trump’s call for Malema to be arrested for calling for land expropriation without compensation, while reiterating that it would oppose any compromising of the country’s laws to allow for Elon Musk's Starlink to operate in South Africa.

It said it will also oppose any reversal of transformative legislation including that which would allow for expropriation of land.

“Our Commander in Chief can be considered in the lines of great revolutionaries, as Donald Trump in his illiterate rants has called for his arrest for daring to call for land expropriation without compensation. As a result, the EFF is concerned by this call that something must be done to stop the EFF president from chanting a liberation heritage song,” it said.

The EFF went on to criticise Ramaphosa’s delegation to the US, describing Johann Rupert as a “Stellenbosch racist billionaire”, Ernie Els as Trump's golfing buddy, and Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen as the “racist” leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA).

It went on to describe the meeting at the Oval Office as an “interaction dominated by white privileged men, who have amassed wealth at the expense of African people, who spent a majority of the time expressing their hatred of the EFF and Malema.”

The party further believes that the “true intentions” of the meeting between Ramaphosa and Trump were revealed as Rupert went on to lobby for Starlink to operate in South Africa.

On Wednesday, the EFF threatened to oppose a reported Starlink deal in Parliament, in the courts, and on the streets, describing the unconfirmed deal as “unconstitutional".
