Floyd Shivambu allegedly involved in another scandal,
The Economic Freedom Fighters deputy president Floyd Shivambu, already under fire in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal, seems to be embroiled in another scandal.
This time he is linked to a controversial businessman who is being investigated for his role in alleged impropriety at the Public Investment Corporation.
Today the Mail & Guardian reported that it had seen screenshots of text messages believed to be a conversation between Shivambu and the businessman that suggest a direct link between the EFF deputy president and his brother Brian Shivambu's business.
In those messages, Floyd provides Brian's business account details to controversial PIC beneficiary Lawrence Mulaudzi who is currently being investigated for a R300 000 request for payment to an alleged lover of PIC boss Dan Matjila.
Former foreign affairs minister Pik Botha dies
Apartheid-era foreign affairs minister Pik Botha has died in his Pretoria home at the age of 86, his family confirmed today.
His son, Piet Botha, confirmed that his father died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of the morning.
Botha famously changed allegiance from the National Party to the African National Congress in 2000.
SACP decries State capture allegations against Nzimande
The South African Communist Party says media questions directed at its general secretary, Blade Nzimande, are an attempt to intimidate the party from testifying at the State capture inquiry.
A media house sent the SACP questions this week regarding an investigation into allegations that Nzimande had been to the Gupta compound a few times.
Nzimande was asked about his links to the Gupta family and whether he would follow in the footsteps of former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene, who tendered his resignation after testifying at the inquiry.
In response, the SACP issued a statement in which it and Nzimande denounced the allegations.
