Civil society coalition launch to call for ‘National Day of No Confidence’ in President Zuma

A group calling themselves “patrons” that includes prominent personalities    Sheila Sisulu   ,   Mavuso Msimang  ,  Zwelinzima Vavi , Bruce Fordyce   and Wayne Duvenage are expected to attend the launch to day of a civil society coalition under the banner “Future South Africa”.

In a terse statement, the patrons said they will call on South Africans to participate in a “National Day of No Confidence” in President Jacob Zuma on August 8, when the motion of no confidence will take place in Parliament.

Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe has warned her husband's deputies that they risk losing their jobs if they do not perform to the expectations of the 93-year-old leader.

Addressing thousands of ruling Zanu-PF supporters at a rally held on Saturday at the Chinhoyi University of Technology, the First Lady said vice presidents served at President Robert Mugabe's will.

This came at a time when one of Mugabe's deputies, Emmerson Mnangagwa, was reportedly leading a faction within the ruling Zanu-PF party that was angling to take over power when the nonagenarian eventually left office.

And, Ramaphosa says men must take responsibility to change gender violence

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa says the root cause of violence against women is unchallenged patriarchal culture, and it is up to men to take responsibility to change it.

Ramaphosa addressed the Rhema Bible Church yesterday during a special sermon no violence against women and children, launching a campaign which trended under the hashtag #NotInMyName.

The ANC presidential candidate said it was time South Africa admitted that the scourge had become an epidemic, borne of an unnatural relationship of domination by South African men over women.
