The DA will not be intimidated by threats of violence against them, party leader Mmusi Maimane said yesterday.

Maimane said the party will lay criminal charges against some members of the ANC following comments made by some members of the Youth League on Tuesday.

During an ANC Youth League rally in Germiston on Tuesday, there were threats of violence against the DA, with some promising to wait for the opposition with sjamboks and other weapons.

The Gambia will hold its first election today since the downfall of longtime leader Yahya Jammeh.

Expectations are high that new lawmakers will overhaul the national assembly once derided as a mere rubberstamp by many in the country.

Gambian President Adama Barrow hopes that after today's election, the country will again unite as many Gambians did against Jammeh in December.

Anyone marching against President Jacob Zuma will be “taken care of”, the ANC Youth League warned yesterday.

The League warned against those who will be marching for the removal of the president of the ANC that they will not leave Luthuli House in good condition.

ANCYL provincial secretary Che Selane lauded the ANC national working committee’s decision to rally behind Zuma.
