Premier Ace Magashule, without shame, ditched his own State of the Province Address (SOPA) Debate today in favour of attending to his party political duties at Luthuli House.

This is exactly the kind of behaviour we have come to expect from Magashule and it vindicates the DA’s stance that this year’s SOPA event was nothing but an expensive farewell function organised at taxpayer expense in his hometown of Parys.

It’s a good thing that the DA boycotted this year’s SOPA. How could it be expected of opposition parties to take Magashule’s premiership seriously if even he himself have scant regard for his position.

Education MEC Tate Makgoe was appointed acting-Premier, and represented Magashule at today’s sitting, which was in actual fact an ANC caucus meeting.

Magashule is clearly defrauding the people of the Free State by continuing to draw his Premier’s salary without doing any of the work. Magashule must stop moonlighting and resign his position as Premier immediately.
