The DA in the Western Cape is deeply saddened by the passing of Alderwoman Maureen Lehy on 11 August 2024. Maureen was a party stalwart for many years and her passing leaves a deep void in the organization.
Maureen was elected as Deputy Executive Mayor in George in 1986 and served as councilor until her retirement in 2000. She remained a dedicated member of the DA and from 2012 she also played an invaluable role on selection panels and screening committees for the DA in the East Region, and in the Western Cape as a whole.
Maureen’s presence, and her willingness to always assist where needed, will be sorely missed. The DA in the Western Cape sends its heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, and we wish them all the best during this difficult time.
