For nine years the DA in eMalahleni has proposed that the ANC government redo the water supply network, and for 15 years the very same ANC government has failed to supply water consistently to the residents of Doornkop.

In both municipalities the water interruptions are largely due to poor maintenance of the existing infrastructure, including old pipes bursting, cable theft and non-existent service delivery.
