The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal has officially opened the first round of applications for candidates seeking to stand as the party’s Mayoral Candidate for eThekwini Metro in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Aspiring candidates can submit their applications at https://apply.voteda.org and are encouraged to do so before the deadline on 16 April 2025.

This marks the first phase of the DA’s selection process, with further rounds to follow for other municipalities across KwaZulu-Natal. The party is committed to identifying the best possible candidates to take up leadership roles and drive much-needed change in local governance.

In the 2024 elections, the DA finished as the second largest party in eThekwini, ahead of the ANC. Therefore, the DA is primed to have a DA Mayor in eThekwini.

The applicants will be interviewed and scored, with questions posed to them randomly drawn from a pre-approved bank of questions to ensure the integrity of the process.

The successful candidate must thereafter be approved by the Federal Executive.

The DA is looking for passionate, skilled, and committed individuals who understand the complexities of local government and are ready to restore service delivery and accountability in eThekwini.
