The Democratic Alliance (DA) in eThekwini calls on the municipality to urgently provide a clear plan of action amid ongoing power outages. The municipality has failed to communicate the causes of these outages and the timeline for resolution.

This as many communities have been experiencing outages for over a week. The city is facing a massive backlog in resolving the outages, causing immense hardship for residents.

The municipality has failed in addressing this crisis promptly, with no visible sense of urgency from the city leadership to prioritize restoring power to affected areas. This is a direct result of systemic failures in municipal infrastructure and the lack of accountability and action from the city leadership managing these critical services.

Residents are facing significant disruptions in their daily lives, with many unable to carry out basic activities due to the extended power outages. This is compounded by the lack of communication from the municipality about the causes of these outages and the timeline for resolution.

The current management has no regard for the plight of the residents. The DA will continue to put pressure on the municipality to take immediate action, restore electricity, and invest in maintaining the city's infrastructure to ensure reliable and consistent service for all residents.

We urge the people of eThekwini to continue voicing their concerns, and we remain committed to holding the municipality accountable for the state of service delivery in our city.

Issued by Councillor Thabani Mthethwa - DA eThekwini Caucus Leader
