The Democratic Alliance has retained Ward 4 in the City of Cape Town in yesterday's by-election.

Ward 4 includes Phoenix, Joe Slovo Park, Royal Ascot, Summergreens, Sunset Beach, Montague Gardens and parts of Milnerton and Marconi Beam.

The by-election came after the removal of councillor Tando Jafta.

After a robust campaign in this ward, the DA won 61.66% of the vote while the ANC and EFF received 29.28% and 6.61% respectively.

We congratulate the newly-elected Ward councillor, Wandisile Ngeyi, and we are confident that he will serve our communities with absolute distinction.

We express our sincere gratitude to the communities of Ward 4 for their support in the by-election.

The DA remains committed to delivering quality services and a better life for all.
