The government of Swaziland has come up with a new "Strategic Road Map" for 2018-2023. The first thing they wish to do in this road map is to go and beg absolute monarch Mswati III to postpone his dream of declaring Swaziland a first world country in the year 2022, known as “Vision 2022”. For about a decade that skunk of a king has been yapping in every forum he gets that he once had a dream that Swaziland would be a first world country by 2022. To that end, he has been trying to force everyone to believe in this dream of his.

Mswati’s “Vision 2022” has always meant this: a highly developed and luxurious life for Mswati, his family and friends, and on the other hand gross poverty for the majority of the people.

It has taken Mswati's government all this time to come to terms with what the people of Swaziland have been saying; that it is foolish to ever wish that Swaziland would be a first world country, ahead of South Africa, when 50 years since the country's independence from Britain close to 70 percent of the people survive on less than US$2 dollars a day.

Swazi citizens have been leaving Swaziland in droves in search for economic opportunities outside Swaziland, the primary country of choice being South Africa. The people’s rights to freedom of association, speech and assembly are still heavily suppressed by the monarch. It has also been due to the gross waste of funds by the Mswati regime that Swaziland is now categorised as one of the world’s most unequal societies.

But the people are not fools. All along they have been pointing out clearly that Mswati's “first world” dream was a nightmare for the entire population. Like they were not fooled by Mswati's dream, they will also not be fooled by this "new" roadmap! The only immediate solution that Swaziland needs is an overthrow of the Mswati autocracy and the laying of the ground for a people's democratic republic, an action which will include the entire population in their discussions towards the future of the country.

The Communist Party of Swaziland will continue to fight hand in hand with the people of Swaziland for the total overthrow of the Mswati autocracy.
