Cosatu North West is disturbed about the attitudes of Lafarge Holcim Cement management in particular the HR Director towards employees who are NUM members. The company is busy bashing the NUM trying to weaken it, by relocating its Full time shopstewards from Lichtenburg to Head Office so that they can be able to exploit workers.
They have decided to suspend the full time shopstewards and failed to implement the agreement signed by both parties regarding closing wage gap and housing subsidy.Workers have been intimidated and dismissed after they stood firm in support of their full time shopstewards and requesting the company to implement the agreement.
We condemn the intended action of the company to conduct mass disciplinary hearing that intends to dismiss more than 90 workers.Cosatu will embark on a massive march on Friday, the 22 July 2016 in support to NUM and its members pressurising the company to accede to all issues raised by NUM.
We will further engage all Lafarge Holcim Cement clients and Tribal Authority of Bodibe regarding same matters of workers. Cosatu can’t allow Lafarge to exploit workers. We will continue to defend workers in the Province.
