The MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Cllr Kholofelo Morodi confirms that the City of Tshwane has approved the transfer of 28 erven in the Pretoria CBD to enable the development of the Madiba Heights housing project.

This strategic decision falls within the oversight of the MMC’s portfolio, under which the Group Property Department has played a central role in consolidating and preparing the land parcels for release. The successful transfer demonstrates the City’s commitment to unlocking municipal assets for the benefit of Tshwane residents.

The Madiba Heights development will see the construction of more than 600 residential units across four high-rise blocks. The project will integrate affordable rental stock, First Home Finance units, and bonded housing, supported by small-scale retail outlets and open recreational spaces.

By bringing this project forward, the City of Tshwane is advancing its broader priorities of housing delivery, urban renewal, and economic growth in the Capital City. The transfer also ensures that well-located land in the CBD is put to productive use, creating opportunities for dignified living close to transport, jobs, and amenities.

The MMC will continue to lead efforts to ensure that City-owned properties are effectively utilised to meet housing needs, stimulate investment, and build inclusive communities.
