Burundi’s ruling party won all 108 seats in the national assembly following an election.
Three indigenous lawmakers obtained seats to fulfill so-called ethnic equilibrium, taking the total allocated to 111, National Election Commission President Prosper Ntahorwamiye said Wednesday.
The ruling National Council for the Defense of Democracy – Forces for the Defense of Democracy obtained 96.51% of the vote, he said, with the Union for National Progress obtaining 1.38% and and the National Congress for Liberty 0.58%
The opposition says that elections were not transparent and fair.
