The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Buffalo City metropolitan municipality say they have no faith in the future of service delivery in the metro as long as African National Congress (ANC) Mayor Princess Faku is in charge.

This follows the fourth ordinary meeting that was called by Council Speaker Humphrey Maxegwana and where Faku presented several compliance items and municipal reports including the 2023/24 budget and the City’s integrated development plan (IDP).

According to EFF chairperson Mziyanda Hlekiso there was concern with the billing system in the metro which he said was “false and misleading” as homes had been billed on estimations.

Hlekiso also lamented the potholes in the metro.

“The Buffalo City metro is bombarded by potholes and everywhere you go is a water leakage due to collapsed infrastructure. The only way to solve this is to vote the ANC out of power, that is the solution,” he said.

Hlekiso also complained that the municipality was not properly consulting the public on the IDP, as communication was mostly done through radio during loadshedding.

He called on the municipality to “do the right thing” according to the Municipal Systems Act.
