Pre-eminent African law firm Bowmans has announced the promotion of three of its senior associates to partner, effective 1 March 2026. Two of these people are based in the firm’s Dar es Salaam office, reflecting the continued growth of Bowmans Tanzania.
The newly appointed partners bring a wealth of expertise to their respective regions.
Brian Mambosho is an experienced commercial litigation lawyer specialising in complex disputes, including those involving construction, mining and regulatory compliance. Mambosho has also been involved in defending major aviation claims and procurement disputes. His experience extends to bringing and opposing ship arrests in Tanzania and advising shipowners, charterers and their marine insurers in a variety of shipping and commodity-related matters. He holds two degrees from the University of Mysore – a Bachelor of Academic Law and a Bachelor of Laws, an MBA from Sikkim Manipal University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania.
Edwin Prosper, also based in Dar es Salaam, focuses on M&A with particular emphasis on tax matters, due diligence and compliance. His extensive experience covers the mining, financial, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors. Edwin holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy and Mineral Processing Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam and an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He is a registered tax consultant with the Tanzania Revenue Authority and is recognised as a qualified accountant by the ACCA and National Board of Accountants and Auditors.
Jacques Liebenberg, who is based in the firm’s M&A Practice in Johannesburg, advises local and international clients on cross-border corporate transactions, equity capital markets matters, and securities law. He also has general commercial and corporate expertise, including in the areas of company law, corporate governance, due diligence, and applying the JSE listing requirements. Jacques holds an LLB from the University of Stellenbosch.

In addition to the partner promotions, one senior associate was promoted to consultant, 20 associates were promoted to senior associate, three people were promoted within the firm’s Corporate Investigations Practice and 15 business services professionals were promoted.
