The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) continued to play a prominent role in 2024, supporting its member states in Africa and the Caribbean as they navigated a demanding global operating environment.

With member states facing myriad challenges—among them, external debt burdens, tight financing conditions, and significant inflationary pressures—the Bank intensified its operations to provide needed support and bridge significant gaps in trade and project financing.

In addition to deploying existing products and services, the Bank launched several initiatives critical to making African and Caribbean economies more resilient. Reflecting this growing impact, in 2024 the Bank approved more than US$22 billion and disbursed more than US$18.7 billion, its largest disbursements in any single year.
