The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) has described the late Dr. Frene Ginwala as a dedicated and devoted leader who made an indelible contribution to not only the struggle for liberation but for the process of reconstruction and transformation to democracy. Comrade Ginwala passed away on Thursday, the 12th of February 2023 at her home.

In paying tribute to the renowned activist’s life, the ANCWL said that Comrade Frene was a prolific
scholar, lawyer, journalist and activist, and was part of the ‘golden generation’ of revolutionary activists who dedicated their lives to the fight for a non-racial, non-sexist, just and democratic South Africa.
