The African National Congress (ANC) welcomes the announcement by Statistics South Africa that South Africa’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 1,6% in the third quarter of 2022. This growth performance has exceeded market expectations by some margin. Data also shows that the size of the South Africa’s economy in the third quarter was larger than it was before the Covid-19 pandemic. This is clear demonstration that the economic recovery efforts that government is implementing as outlined in
the Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan that President Cyril Ramaphosa presented to the country in October 2020 are bearing fruits.
