The Chairperson of the Ad Hoc Committee to Investigate allegations made by Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, Mr Soviet Lekganyane, has noted media reports quoting Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya stating the date he will appear before the committee.

Mr Lekganyane clarified that no final decision has yet been made regarding the list of witnesses, and such decisions will be made collectively by the full committee. While Lieutenant-General Sibiya's expressed willingness to testify is appreciated, his public comments are premature.

The committee has only approached potential witnesses to check their availability and ensure they have access to legal counsel if needed. Mr Lekganyane also highlighted that the Committee was categorical that the first official witness will be Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi, whose public statements prompted the formation of the committee.

Mr Lekganyane reaffirmed the committee's commitment to begin hearings but stressed the importance of finalising all foundational and procedural preparations to ensure the committee’s success. A meeting will be held tomorrow to finalise these arrangements.
