Today, the Tshwane MMC for Human Settlements, Cllr. Abel Tau officiated the sod turning ceremony that launched the construction of the Chantelle Social Housing Project.

The multimillion-rand social housing project is managed by Housing Company Tshwane (HCT), an entity of the Department of Human Settlements in the City, which is politically led by Cllr Abel Tau.

With a budget allocation of R131 million, the project, aims to produce gap housing or rental stock that will consist of 600 mixed units for the first phase, which will benefit South Africans who reside in the City that are known as the missing-middle, too rich for an RDP house and too poor for a home loan.

As part of our continued efforts to address the housing backlog in Tshwane, we are working with the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements to address the problem on the National Housing Needs Register, currently at 210 000 for Tshwane.

ActionSA, through the Multiparty Coalition Government in Tshwane, is committed to the eradication of informal settlements through formalisation, in-situ upgrades, and provision of rental stock.

We remain steadfast on fulfilling our election promises.

Issued by ActionSA Tshwane Caucus Leader Alderman Anniruth Kissonduth
