ActionSA extends heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones who lost their lives following a horrific accident N1 near Verkeerdevlei Toll Plaza, towards Winburg in the Free State.

11 people have been pronounced dead when a truck and a taxi collided head on. The eleventh body was retrieved by Emergency Medical Services during their extraction procedure

ActionSA expresses its deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery for the two who are injured.

The increased number of fatal accidents on the stretch of road between Bloemfontein and Thaba-Nchu is indicative of how dangerous this stretch of road has become.

ActionSA will continue its call on National Government and all rail agencies to urgently fix the rail system. In addition, ActionSA calls on increased visible policing on this stretch of road to ensure that trucks and taxis are roadworthy, and the rules of the road are adhered to by all users of the road.

As we approach the height of the festive season, ActionSA implores all South Africans to be responsible and vigilant on our roads as this period is one in which we witness increased carnage on our roads.
