ActionSA extends its commendations to the Multiparty Coalition Government for tabling its first Draft Budget that is also fully-funded.
This comes of the Coalition Government tabled the first fully-funded budget since the 2021/22 financial year in Council today.
This budget not only reflects a commitment to responsible governance but also prioritises the development and welfare of residents of Tshwane.
ActionSA further commends the Coalition Government for reducing its reliance on contracted services by R210 million in pursuit of building internal capacity.
This commitment to building a self-reliant city is evidenced by the proposed 5% reduction in contracted services. By investing in our own waste trucks and water tankers, we are reducing unnecessary expenditure while improving service delivery capabilities. The expansion of TMPD by 200 more personnel by January next year will further boost our internal crime-fighting capabilities.
These strategic steps will undoubtedly enhance our operational efficiency and responsiveness to residents’ needs.
This is a responsive government which responds to the pleas of its residents who are being hit hard by the cost-of-living crisis. ActionSA is therefore encouraged by a reduction of property rates by 4%.
Equally heartening is the Multiparty Government’s insistence on keeping tariff adjustments in line with inflation while not passing those to residents in the case of Rand Water and Eskom.
ActionSA applauds this Multiparty Government as led by Executive Mayor, Dr Nasiphi Moya, for its clear vision and commitment to saving the City from the brink of financial ruin.
The Draft 2025/26 Medium Term Expenditure Framework is a foundational step toward sustainable growth, responsible financial management, and improved service delivery for all residents
We encourage all stakeholders and residents to exercise their civic duty and engage fully in the public participation process so we can pass a budget in which we can all see ourselves.
