The Women and Leadership conference, “It’s DUE” – Develop, Unite, Empower, will take place on 26 & 27 October at the Oubaai Hotel & Spa, George, Western Cape, organised by Pinpoint Stewards a 100% women-owned business.

Ankia Roux, Co-owner of Pinpoint Steward says:  “the conference platform will strive to not only recognize and profile current women-leaders, but also call on the future leaders of Government. Unless more women equip themselves to lead and step forward, the status of women empowerment can not progress”  Roux adds: “that this conference will  inspired women to challenge the norm and be courageous to raise their hand to lead”

UN Women reports show that: “Women’s equal participation and leadership in political and public life are essential in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.  However data shows that women are under-represented at all levels of decision-making worldwide and achieving gender parity in political life is far off…at the current rate gender equality in the highest position of power will not be reached for another 130 years”

An opening address will be given by a great example of leadership,  Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, Minister, Western Cape Health and Wellness. Dr Nomafrench forms part of the only Health department that has received clean audits for three consecutive years 2019, 2020 & 2021.  Nkhensani Kate Bilankulu, Chairperson, Multi-Party Women’s Caucus will speak on fighting for gender equality as one of the key 2030 Social Development Goals and where we should start.  Addressing the gender pay gap in South Africa will be addressed by Beverley Schafer, Deputy Speaker: International Relations and Protocol, Western Cape Provincial Parliament.  Mamorene Lehoko, Acting HOD will represent the Dept of Cooperative Governance and Traditianal Affairs (North-West Province) and look at key competencies as a strategic leader.

Beneficiaries selected by the organisers are SA for Hope and This Little Light to give notice to amazing organisations making a difference in the communities they serve. A percentage of proceeds will be donated to each of them.  Potential funders in Govt and SOE’s are invited to look them up and assist them further.

Media partners have been approached by the organisers to spotlight women who are making headlines for the right reasons.  Sponsors are asked to support the conference though funding to enable the organisers to broadcast the conference virtually, to equip young professionals at universities level and influence them to lead with a better South Africa in mind.
