The DA notes the resignation of Garden Route District Municipality Mayor, Andrew Stroebel, who will be retiring from politics.

The effective date is 31 October 2025 and he will vacate his position as PR Councillor. Andrew has served his community with dignity since joining the party in 2009.

He was elected as Ward 7 Hessequa Councillor in 2011, then elected as Speaker of Council in 2016. In June last year, Andrew was elected as Executive Mayor of the Garden Route Municipality.

During his short period as Mayor, Andrew had many successes, including:

  • Ensured a Clean Audit, awarded by the Auditor-General.
  • Stronger tourism and business platform that collaborates frequently.

As the DA, we thank Andrew for serving the party and amplifying the true values of the DA. Although vacating his seat as a public servant, Andrew will remain a DA member.

We wish Andrew the best of luck as he opens a new chapter in his life.
